  66. Kidproof <tm> for Windows (Version 1.0)

  68. Kidproof is an application for kids and parents. It allows you,
  69. the parents, to protect your programs when your child is using your PC.
  70. Having Kidproof is like having a childÆs desktop within your desktop.
  71. When you launch Kidproof, you are starting a mini-desktop. You add
  72. programs to Kidproof that your want your child to launch. When your child
  73. is launching programs within Kidproof, the real desktop, your own, is
  74. safe and secure. Your child will not be able to access anything that is
  75. outside of Kidproof.

  77. Kidproof is very similar to Program Manager. If you know how to use
  78. Program Manager then you already know a lot about Kidproof. As for kids,
  79. they just have to point and click.

  81. With Kidproof, you are not required to exit any application you are using
  82. just because your child wants to use your PC. Kidproof will protect your
  83. already running applications Your child will not be able to access any
  84. applications that are not started from Kidproof.

  108. ===== Installation =====================================
  109.  
  110. To install Kidproof, take the following steps:
  111. 1. Create a subdirectory where you would like to install Kidproof,
  112.    e.g., at the DOS prompt enter
  113.        MD C:\KIDPROOF
  114. 2. Copy the archived Kidproof file KIDPRO01.EXE into the Kidproof
  115.    subdirectory e.g, at the DOS prompt enter
  116.        COPY KIDPRO01.EXE C:\KIDPROOF
  117. 3. Run Kidpro01.exe. This executable will self-explode creating a
  118.    list of files.
  119. 4. From the File Manager, select the Run option under the File menu.
  120.    Run SETUP.EXE which is in the Kidproof subdirectory, e.g.,
  121.        C:\KIDPROOF\SETUP.EXE
  122.    This will bring up the Kidproof Setup screen.
  123. 5. Setup will ask the name of the subdirectory (i.e., path) where
  124.    you would like to install Kidproof. A default value for the
  125.    subdirectory will be provided. Press the Enter key to accept
  126.    the default value. Overwrite the default value if you prefer
  127.    another subdirectory.
  128. 6. Setup will install Kidproof on the computer. Add a program group
  129.    and Kidproof icons to the Program Manager.
  130. 7. Now you are ready to use Kidproof. Please read README.TXT and
  131.    LICENSE.TXT before you use Kidproof.

  133. To de-install Kidproof, take the following steps:
  134. 1. Delete the Kidproof installed subdirectory.
  135. 2. Delete KIDPROOF.INI file from the Windows directory.

  164. ===== License for Use and Distribution =================

  166. Kidproof is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  167. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  168. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
  169. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  170. provide personal computer users with quality software without
  171. high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
  172. continue to develop new products.

  174. If you find this programuseful and find that you are using Kidproof
  175. and continue to use Kidproof after a reasonable trial period, you
  176. must make a registration payment of US$17.95 plus S&H (California
  177. resident must pay sales tax of 7.25%) to Applied Softworks Inc.The
  178. $17.95 plus S&H registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
  179. computer at any one time. You must treat thissoftware just like a book.
  180. An example is that this software may be used by any number of people and
  181. may be freely moved from one computer location to another, so long as
  182. there is no possibility of it being used at one location while it's being
  183. used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons
  184. at the same time.

  186. Commercial users of Kidproof must register and pay for their
  187. copies of Kidproof within 30 days of first use or their license
  188. is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by contacting
  189. Applied Softworks Inc.

  191. Anyone distributing Kidproof for any kind of remuneration must
  192. first contact Applied Softworks Inc. at the address below for
  193. authorization.This authorization will be automatically granted
  194. to distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its
  195. guidelines for shareware distributors, and such distributors
  196. may begin offering Kidproof immediately. Any distribution satisfying
  197. all the distribution requirements expressed in the attached
  198. VENDINFO data record is hereby authorized. However Applied
  199. Softworks Inc. must still be advised so that the distributor
  200. can be kept up-to-date with the latest version of Kidproof.
